PENFIELD HISTORY
Thanks for visiting this page. It is dedicated to Penfield history, where you will find all kinds of information about our Town - its people, institutions, and other odds and ends.
The thing about history is that we all learn things in different ways - but if we don't share the history that we've learned with the community, then it dies in a way. I don't want our rich Penfield history to die, and that's really my motivation of having this website. I encourage the Town of Penfield to do its very best to keep Penfield history alive. I am so proud of our town - and so should you!
After reading some of the passages, you will certainly become familiar with some of Penfield's most prominent families. West Penfield is where Indians, the French and the English all spent some time. Of course, today's Four Corners area is where our town's founders resided and made important decisions. East of Four Corners was vast farm lands of our town's earliest settlers. Driving around Penfield will take another meaning for you - it certainly has for me!
When did I do this project on Penfield history? Well, a few years back (time flies), I sent my boys to a week-long overnight summer camp. My wife and I became “empty nesters” of sorts! I had nothing to do in the early mornings, so I walked around our local cemeteries. 🪦 I would come across Penfield families of yesteryears - the last names that all of us are familiar with. My favorite walks was on the older sections of the grounds. One thing led to another - and this page was formed. I want to share the knowledge of Penfield history with others because that's the only way to keep our history alive.
Good luck and have fun! I hope you enjoy this collection of Penfield History.
